An extensive extended cruise circling Australia is being halted days after the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the vessel, but separated from the excursion for a break. The liner departed without her and returned after some time after the ship staff realised the passenger was not present.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her body the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the event, alongside police and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator stated that travelers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".
