Football Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair

In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to secure the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Wins Contest

Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the contest.

Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to score a potential winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.

Fields struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented after the game.
